Default Front mount intercooler

Hi All,

Question - do you need a remap when you fit a front mount intercooler?

I have a 02 sti ppp, what gains would I get? also are they easy to fit?

Cheers

If you tend to sit in traffic a fair bit then FMIC is definately worthwhile. Plus it's futureproof for more power

They do look really sexy and they dont suffer the heatsoak which top mount intercoolers do so do have some benefit.

It would require a remap even if you havent done anything else, PPP is a map that is still a generic map so you will get some extra BHP as it will be mapped to your engine. If you go down the EcuTek remap line then once you have bought the license then its only the cost of the mapper every time you have a new map.

Do not fit a front mount without a remap. If it is an efficient front mount chances are you will destroy your engine without a remap.

That said, if your car is on the standard turbo you do not need an FMIC until you change turbos. 350 bhp upwards on your car and you start to enter the area where an FMIC will show gains.
