99ron or 97ron
Hey folks
My car is a my99 UK turbo, with full stainless and sports CAT
Not remapped yet!
It has always been run on 99ron fuel to the best of my knowledge and I have owned it since January
My question is, is it needed to run on 99ron fuel or am I being overkill? I only ask due to current prices and the increasing lack of availability

if you have always used it then carry on i say, as said above it will only be better for the engine and performance, just make sure its mapped for it and away you go

99 if you are gonna get it mapped for 99. At the moment its just overkill as your car is mapped for 95 ron so you should have no det issues and for the sake of the 3bhp its giving you is it worth the extra 6p per litre. 99ron is advised for imports as Jap fuel is 99 as standard and thats what they are mapped for anything less can lead to det, since standard fuel in the uk is 95 ron thats what your car is mapped for so you should suffer no det even on standard fuel. Sorry for the long winded reply.

As above. Ran my uk97 car on 95ron for years. Occasionally tried 97/99ron but found no difference in performance or fuel economy, just a bigger bill at the pumps, even after resetting the ecu.
Replaced the ecu with a Prodrive one and noticed straight away the car pulled cleaner and smoother on 99ron. No difference in economy, not that I'm bothered.
Interestingly had to do an 86 mile run at night on Tesco 95ron recently and returned 27mpg at "high motorway speeds"

I had a 99 turbo 2000 prodrive and I noticed the difference. I put a tank of 95 Ron in and didn't boost as well and alot jerkier on the acceleration, the car just didn't feel happy. So after that always stuck to shell v power or tesco 99 as it didn't like bp ultimate either ...... Bloody fussy cars !!

Yep, the Prodrive cars definitely prefer 97/99ron. Near standard UK turbo's should be quite happy on 95ron. Mine certainly was fine on 95ron till the Prodrive ecu was fitted, about 50,000 miles in my ownership. Done 20,000 on 99ron since the Prodrive kit was added. Now at 165,000 miles and still pulls like a (Prodrive) train. Spare engine in the garage waiting the inevitible LOL
