Default Fault Code Reader ???

Hi guys,

Im looking for a fault code reader that will read my subaru impreza turbo 2000.

Its a 1997 model.

I used a friends reader previously on my non turbo GL which was a 2000 reg and it would not accept the car. The reader was slightly old tho!

Does any one have any recommendations as i dont want to spend money for something that isnt compatible.

Budget is around £40-£50

Thanks

Jim

Your car has it's own on board code retrieval, you don't need to spend out anything.
If you google jolly green monster and go to his help page it tells you the instructions on there.

Here's a link showing you how to read the codes.

Hopefully that link works.

I'd say clear them and go for a drive, recheck and see what you have then.

Ive booked it into my friends motorsport garage to check it further.
I can clean the idle control but i need to see why its picking the speedo sensor 2.

The speedo is fine but i know this isnt a primary sensor.

I do agree to reset the ecu but im just worried this will happen again.

Il let you know how i get on

Then again you could be wasting your time as they could be historic codes. In my opinion, I would clear them and see what happens.

See the problem i have is that the car is going into limp mode over 4.5 k

so i dont think its a previous code. But it may come back telling me what i already know.

That it may do, is it revving over 4.5k rpm?
Sound a bit like a speed sensor issue
