Default FMIC & Standard recirc valve?

Hi All

I was just wondering if you can fit the OE recirc valve on to FMIC pipework? I have a forge VTA fitted at the mo, but want to swap it back before my map tweak. And was just wondering about fitment?

Also where would it recirc the air back to with no air box?

Thanks
Andy

Yes you can fit the recirc valve on fmic pipe work. I had to get this silicone hose to fit mine back to intake.

Thanks for the response & the link.

Do you have a pic? I can't get my head around the fitment just because the OE version is held on by 2 bolts into the TMIC, and I can't figure out how to fix it on.

Thanks
Andy

If you don't get a sale out of this I will take your old one back Joz at a price fair to both of us.

Sure.

From memory was the brand new price something like £12.37 (with or without P&P) - can't recall....?

Just let me know what you're after for it back again lol...

You will need to remove your APS item, and reuse the FMIC pipe's port (+ a reducing silicone) to mount the OEM item onto said port - assuming, that is, the FMIC's hardpipe has a generic circular port (rather than something bespoke for its matching APS DV). But to do this you will need one of harvey's flange adaptors. You then need to use your exisitng pipe for the recirc. side of the OEM DV i.e. the pipe (probably quite long) that goes from the DV's recirc port to the turbo intake.

Or go DV-less?!...

The VF35 (UK STi) or VF37 (JDM STi T.S.) are fine to run DVless (you'd get a great impeller stall noise lol on throttle lifts/gearchanges).

...In which case a blanking bung will need to replace the APS DV (plus you'd need to bung the turbo intake recirc port and blank the vac line to the I.M.).

If you go this route, then I have couple of unused, great quality ally bungs which I don't need - 34mm O.D. GGR one and a 'ribbed' 38mm O.D. ASH one.

I would think it wouldn't do harm as such... But if it were me, then I'd get the mapper to take a look at the map to make sure it's all okay

At the very most, a tweak of a few of the map's cels would be required, I expect. Just depends on how much your mapper would charge for said tweak? (Usually c.£150+)....

Stalling any turbo is bad news and on any roller bearing turbo I expect it will reduce service life noticably. This is why Subaru and most other automotive manufacturers fit a pressure release sytem or dump valve as standard.

Yes Alex it will sound very nice going through tunnels especially but it won't improve performance and it can only shorten turbo life although yours is a sleeve bearing turbo and very robust so not as bad as the effect on a ballbearing turbo.
If you want to talk about a set of tubular headers give me a ring.
