Default Is my diff knackered?

I noticed after replacing my rear pads that the brake discs were bloody hot. Binding caliper or sticking pads thought I. I stripped it all down and no, the brakes work fine and there is no binding.

As it is both discs that are hot I am now thinking it might be the diff. I remember reading on here ages ago that if the centre diff goes it will cause the rear diff to overheat. Anyone know if this is the case? Also would this mean I need a new rear and centre diff?

Thanks

Mark

I had this on my old Evo last year. The back discs would start glowing after a long drive.
There was no binding but there was some corrosion on the inside of the rear discs because I only ever used it at weekends, and basically wasn't working them hard enough.I used to wash it and put it away sometimes without taking it for a drive to dry the discs.
Are your discs clean or is there any rust/corrosion on them?

There is a bit of rust on the top edge of the disc where the old pads weren't touching. The new pads do sweep this area however. I suppose a new set of discs is going to be cheaper than a diff

Yeah that's probably all it is.A rusty bit of disc being braked upon is a lot of friction.
