Default N/A Owners?

If there are any n/a drivers out there then would like to hear from you.

I can only afford the insurance for a non Turbo as I have a few sprogs and another family car, so please no one tell me I need a Turbo

Right, I have got a second hand afterburner vortex back box but now need a centre section pipe. Can anyone tell me that you have used the classic pie from scooby world, the sports one, with success and how was the ease of fitment?

I have a one piece cat, not one that can be split into two. Does this one fit OK with out any modifications? http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...products_id=86

If any one that has fitted an after market exhaust to their non Turbo then please let me know how you got on.

Thanks

You really need to buy a turbo matey...

Just joking, I ran a 97 sport as a daily a while back, as well as my hawkeye wrx.

I know of a few guys that ran the afterburner/hayward and scott centre section (they are the same thing). It doesn't matter if you have a one piece or two piece cat as they meet the centre pipe at the same distance. They are a good piece of kit as are all hayward et scott products.

Other alternatives are the cobra sport centre which is slightly more expensive,http://www.cobrasport.com/exhaust/Su...4+to+00/31/0/0. Good piece of kit too.

If you are after the distinctive 'burble' you will need a set of uel headers, the backbox et centre will not do anything apart from sound really raspy.

That is mate, In fact I bought mine from the exact same guy. Awesome service, and it arrived from America bloody quickly. Bolted straight on to my classic Sport.

So, blonde moment. Are those the equal or unequal headers? And, its the unequal ones that give the burble?

Just been out and looked under the car and I already have the ones shown in the eBay link.

The ones on the bay are uel mate, They do give the characteristic burble. The equal length (standard ones) will produce a raspy tone on the non turbo engines.

Just saved yourself a fair bit of cash there, put it towards a nice mid pipe!

Right mate, bought the centre section today and it fits the cat fine but not the back box end :

The centre section is a 2" pipe and the back box is 2.5" would this be because the back box came off a Turbo? So, I need to elongate the holes, but with what, what would be the best thing to use?

Plus, I originally bought a gasket for the 2.5" pipe so is a bit big now, what size would be better now, 2" or 2 1/4"?

This is turning into a bigger pain in the *** than I wanted

Be better off buying both gasket sizes and trying them both, 2 1/4" may be a good compromise. which centre section have you bought? the hayward and scott ones are 2.5" in diameter as far as i'm aware. And most if not all aftermarket turbo backboxes are 2.5" + in diameter.

Some backbox flanges don't match up. Elongate the holes by quite a bit and widen them slightly, best off using a 'Dremel' if you have one. Failing that use a hand file (takes ages!!). The turbo flanges are at a different angle on some backboxes, some guys cut the flange off and re weld it at the appropriate angle rather than elongating et widening the holes. Your choice though mate, theres a thread on imprezasport.net about turbo backbox fitment

I got the centre section from scoobyworld and they said its a middle section from a classic/sport so the pipe is 2” in diameter, its an afterburner vortex pipe.

The flange is the right way round but cos its going up against a 2.5" backbox the bolts holes are slightly out.

I'm hoping I've got the right centre section, but is is the same diameter as the cat and I found a post saying that the non turbos have a smaller diameter pipe compared to the turbos.
