Default general question

hi there guys, just looking for some advice - i bought a wrx import about 1month ago, went out for a run last nite and decided to open it up a bit,i dropped it from 5th to 3rd and put the foot down, without realising i heard the limmiter come in and i looked at the speedo and it was showing round-about 87mph,i thot it might have done more than that in 3rd gear, is that speed rite enough or is there some problem with my wrx, all answer's would be appreciated regards andy

You really don`t want to be dinging off the limiter, thats what Corsa`s and the like do.
You want to be changing in the sweet spot, which is 5-600rpm before that.
But in all seriousness if you want to be flat out constantly then get a Corsa.

yeh i know.i didnt mean to hit the limiter,i was planting the foot cos my brother was sitting by my side in his fto v6 and i thot to myself i aint letting him past so i dropt it down 2 gears and put the foot down but then heard the limiter a few seconds after so changed straight into 4th,thats the only reason i knew that i was geting about 87mph in 3rd,surelly the 2.l v6 fto doesnt go faster in 3rd than a wrx,he says he gets near 100mph in 3rd

Yeah its all gearing, the Impreza is transferring the power down to get shifting and it does go through the gears quickly, but its because it needs to.

Don`t worry about speed to the gear unless your in 5th, but then your intercooler doesn`t work after 90/100mph as the air flows over the bonnet and up and over the scoop.
