V2 STi stalling and uneven running
1996 V2 WRX Sti
A few months ago in winter when cold starting it ran as normal, then started shutting down early on revs and stalling.
Changed the water temp sender and all was cured.
Now I where comming to a stop or approaching a roundabout it tends to stall and often the engine management comes on. Also when cold and shutting down in revs it tends to flutter like a duff plug, yet shows no problems under power. Checking the codes and it shows as the Idle Valve is at fault.
Renewed the valve with a spare, with no change.
Done the MAF sensor test and shows as ok.
Could it be the water temp sender at fault again or something else.
thanks

thanks,
Std. scooby valve fitted, no aftermarket gadets fitted.
INFO:-
As for the management light coming on found as follows;
When overrunning from approx. 3.5k-4k, whether or not going down the gears to approx. 2k-2.5k then power on and the light comes on. But if I let it idle or fast tick over below 1.5k while coasting along, then the light goes out and I can carry on at 4k at any distance till I have to change down or slow down as said above and doing the same thing again.
I suspect the 02 sensor from experience with another RA scooby I had some years ago, where cruising at approx. 4k to 5k and then power on to climb a steep hill then the light would come on and would have to do a ECU reset.
thanks

I know there is no specific test.
But can be checked by disconnecting the MAF while running. If the engine keeps on running, the car has learn't to run on its own power and the MAF is on its way out also the engine goes into Limp mode.
If the engine stops as it should do, the MAF is fine and has not been learning to run in Limp mode.
thanks
