Default engine repair

Hi all. Quick question to the techy's, is it possible to change con rods with the engine in the bay still? Problem is that I do not have anywhere to put the engine and work on it. is it possible?

Thanks

Darren

ps the car is a 2001 bugeye WRX sportwagon and the problem I am 98% sure is rod knock.

As above - No - if you have suspected big end failure, then you will have bearing debris internally - all adds up to an engine strip and build.
