Question Can I get much more out of it?

Hi guys, recently had my car mapped and it's totally transformed the car. Needless to say I'm already craving more! Just wondered what u guys reckon I could squeeze out of it. Its a uk turbo 2000 classic facelift. Here's the spec so far:-

Freshly rebuilt engine with acl race bearings
Simtek ECU
TD05 16g front entry
STI Top mount
HKS SSQV
R Spec 3 port boost solenoid
Simota Panel Filter
Walbro Fuel Pump
Standard 440cc injectors
Boost set to 1.3bar peak

Think that's it, haven't had it rolling roaded yet but will do asap. My mapper reckons it will most likely be around 310-320bhp.
What else can I do to get more, remembering that my engine is fresh but standard bar the acl bearings and the box is the original 5 speed.

Thanks in advance

Hmm, hadn't thought of porting headers, is it expensive to do?

much more than 350bhp and your in new gearbox territory. Harvey smith ports and wraps headers on an exchange basis with new up pipe matched to your car, not cheap in comparison to tubular headers but only heard good things about his work. picking up a second hand set today but up pipe was for an md321h so how much that differs from a 20g up pipe i dont know.

Hmm, thought as much. Wheres the best place to get tubular headers from then fella? Take it I'll need my map tweaked after fitting them then?

tubular headers only worth getting if your aiming for over 400bhp. Much better off sticking with Harveys ported headers + upipe, drop him a line and iam sure he will advise all of your options

Also be carefull when buying tubular/ported headers and buy from someone reputable(harvey),as fitting some types can cause more problems , I was advised by my mapper that some headers with flexi pipe can break/leak.
Also as your mapper has given you a 'most likely' to be figure ,does not mean that your car is not currently producing 340 bhp in which case your turbo & injectors may well be at there limit.

Another vote for Harvey's stuff.

Using his headers and a matched up-pipe will result in earlier and better spool.

Change to a bigger sti8 tmic and change to a samco intake pipe and you would notice a nice difference in torque

Your 440cc injectors will max out somewhere between 320-330 bhp and your turbo a little beyond that. To get to the point of maxing out your turbo you will need 550cc injectors ported headers and matched uppipe with an FMIC. After a remap you should be close to the 16G limit 340-350 bhp depending on what rolling road you use.
The advantage of doing it this way is that you only need a turbo change at a later date to further advance your quest for power. The next stage would be subject to what you want but may include VF34, TD05-18G or TD05-20G.
The airbox on your car is good to 350 bhp but with the FMIC you loose the pannel filter and would be best going to a large cone, trumpet and silicon joiner. At your level and until you fit an FMIC your pannel is adequate and even when the FMIC is fitted the rest of your inlet tract is adequate until you go to a forged engine.
