Try typing 'exhaust' in the search bar and having a read through some of the threads,as the choice is huge .If you ask 50 different people you may get 50 different replies.Try stating how much you want to spend,do you want a back box,a cat back or a full decat system. How loud/quiet do you want it.
Failing that go on youtube and listen to a few, to give you some idea's
Heres one for starters:

alryt then clever clogs!

i want a turbo back exhaust with decat really. want to get as much performance out of it as possible.

i dont want a quiet one, one a bit above medium will do me fine.

price isnt an issue, but obviously not too expensive or too cheap!

cheers

I've been trying to decide on one as well.I'm thinking about the Hayward and Scott 2.5 catback. It has a nice standard clean look and doesn't seem too loud.
£352 roughly.Worth checking out.

Danny.

I don't have all the answers mate ,and personally I would go for a afterburner vortex ,quite popular and awesome sounding imho, but some will say blitz , other will say cobra, miltek, hks, prodrive, magnex, H & S ,just to name a few . Why not pop along to a local Subaru meet, which will give you a good chance to hear various exhaust systems.

Hi Guys,

Just having my two pence worth.....

There is only one quality exhaust at a sensible price !

Dont like to brag but we do also design and develop exhausts for Subrau UK ?

Please visit www.cobrasport.com

Remember if going full decat to at least get on a rolling road to check all the fuelling as you may need a remap............don't want your new motor going bang.

I've got a Haywood & Scott 3" downpipe De-cat 2.5" with Jap Style 2.5" angled box. The best mod I've done as had re-map so pops and bangs. Cars sounds unreal and looks good from the back. Also the service at H&S was a amazing at a good price went there watched them fit it with 20mins. Give them a call.

Mine is a Type R Version 5 standard apart from a Apexi ECU and Re-map 300 BHP.

Hi mate ,what torque figures did your car achieve ,as your only 20 -30 bhp up on a std car,if i take it your using a vf28 turbo

my sti5 wagon was mapped by andy forrest and made 319bhp an 312lbft on just a walbro fuel pump, ngk pfr 7bs and a green panel filter run on v power. standard exhaust system an vf28 too.
my last sti 5 had an hks hi power exhaust with a 100cell sports cat down pipe and the above mods and made 334bhp and 311lbft.
Stock exhaust is waaaaaaaaaay too quiet hks was waaaaaaaaaaaayy too loud.
Ive got a hayward an scott 2.5" centre with a silencer and a mongoose backbox waiting to go on to see if thats a better set up.
I wouldnt set your heart on one brand. mix an match stuff to see what you like.
If the hayward an scott mongoose combo's too quiet ill get a straight through centre to see if that makes a difference etc etc

Curious about this as I've just got a decat system on mine that previously was catted. Could you elaborate?
