Default will a resonated centre section mean i'd need a remap

Hi folks,

I recently switched to full decat and a vf43 on my bug wrx.

Loving the performance gains so far but with no cats and an afterburner vortex back box it's LOUD as hell lol.

While this is great when in the mood to play, or going through a tunnel :-D it gets on my **** at times too. And my elderly neighbours hate it, and there pretty much deaf haha

Will a resonated centre section reduce the noise much?

Will it change the characteristic of the sound?

Will it affect the performance atall?

And will it need a remap?

Kinda miss my prodrive bb lol, would switching to a prodrive bb need a remap if I went that route?

I do prefer the look of the jap styles, so hope the resonater would be up to the job

Thanks for any help as always :-)

Hi there

Resonated center will not reduce noise as much as you are want at first.

Maybe slightly will change of characteristic of sound.

If its still same diameter of center pipe, not sure which one you have 2.5" or 3" will not affect performance

No you will not need remap,if has been mapped before for non-resonated center pipe.

if you want change of non-noisy exhaust,i would suggest new back box like Miltek,TSL or fit on your backbox bung(this bung on some exhaust will reduce sound for around 10dB) plus resonated center pipe.

Yeah I heard a few people mention millteks were quite quiet.

Anyone know if the milltek 4" jap style bb would be much quieter/subtle than the vortex?

Just after something more refined and burbley again, not just armageddon on boost lol

Thanks jura

Miltek resonated or non-resonated are still quiet, around 88-90dB,which i think Vortex have something around 100dB and some say,its on par with Nur Spec R..

I know what you mean with Armageddon on boost,i've before Nur Spec which has been so noisy at night.

Miltek or TSL Group N are nice and quiet backbox and i would invest money too to resonated center pipe.

The prodrive back box gives a nice sound. Not too loud either, I assume it will flow quite well being prodrive too.

in theory it shouldnt reduce flow enough to cause issue but because it has been mapped to the previous spec I would recommend having it double checked.

Not a money making scheme on my part as I wouldnt charge for a check like that.
Just good for piece on mind.

Been trawling youtube for videos of exhausts that I like. The two that I think I like are the Milltek and the Ninja 2. So I think I'll go for a resonated centre section and a ninja 2 silencer (comes with removable bung too) so think that should give me a more pleasent sound, fingers crossed lol
