Default New to modding, first outing!!

Just had my 54 plate STi with PPP for just over a month now and have decided to do a few engine mods!. I have never attempted engine modding before and have always left my cars standard so am a complete newbie to all this.

I thought i would start out with a small and simple mod, an induction kit! Have been looking at the, 'HKS Super Power Flow Impreza Induction Kit Reloaded'. Is this a good place to start from, what sort of gains may i see, and is there a better option than the HKS?

cheers.

Avoid the induction kits without a remap and at your state of tune. Not worth it.

Really, didnt want to go up the remap route just yet! Can i actually do any mods without the need for a remap?

you can do these but won't work effectively without the map

He can't put decatted exhaust on STi without the mapping,on WRX he can put decatted exhaust without the mapping but on STi he will suffer with overboosting(boost spike etc.)

He can put just different center pipe without the resonator and backbox, panel filter as you are said and cosmetic mods..

Other mods will require mapping/remap

Sorry Jura, I did mean backbox and centre pipe really, should have been more precise.

I have that induction kit mate, but had a remap at the same time as i also did the exhaust and FMIC at the same time.

My car has been transformed and did it all for around £1500, around 350bhp now, but its the way its delivered is worth the money in itself. and the engine noise and exhaust note are spot on.

2nd hand Full 3" milltek £300
FMIC £475
Fuel pump £50
3 port boost solenoid £25
HKS super flow £150
ECUtek map £500

you dont need the FMIC, the others will give you more than enough.

Food for thought definitely, what does the 3 port do exactly?

350bhp was going to be the sweet spot i was ideally looking at achieveing over time. Do i still need the fuel pump, as isnt there fuel pump upgraded with the PPP???

sti ppp should have a uprated pump but some dealers didnt fit them, and even if it was its worth changing as its gettin on a bit.

I had my car mapped at indigo Gt and its part of the deal with the ECUtek map anyway.
