Default Fault code reader recommendations.

Hi guys,I was wondering what code reader diagnostic scanners people use and what you would recommend?
I want one that covers most makes but specifically my v5 type r.
Can anyone confirm also if the socket I've found under the steering column is an OBD2?

Thanks.

Danny.

Thanks for the link mate.so it is an obd2 there then.
Are there any scanners to avoid?good or bad ones?
Reason I ask is I've got the lambda sensor code 32 comes up when using the ecu reset method.Hopefully I'll change it on Tuesday.I'd just like a scanner for a more detailed diagnosis in the future.

It's and OBD2 style connector, but it doesn't use OBD2 protocol. So that means there are not many readers that will work with it at all, as you also have the Subaru Select monitor to deal with. Only the very expensive (snap on) ones will work. And PSi3 data monitors which are very hard to get hold off now.

Afraid so. Although I'm sure an OBD coonector to USB should get something on a laptop. Tactrix is the one most people use on here.
