U shaped Subframe/Crash Bar
Am I correct that the Spec-C's don't have the U shaped crashbar/subframe underneath. (2002 Bugeye)
If that's the case can I remove mine and if I did would I need any extra braces?

I removed mine ages ago and its passed 2 mot`s now with it off, I had to turn the lower brace round to refit, the U frame weights around 12 KGs

Only issue is you have no mounting for plastic undergrad at front but think spec c had welded suspension turrets not sure if this helps strength

How do you mean lower brace? Is that the Std lower Brace or an aftermarket one?

If you mean undertray - that's not an issue as it's in the tip!

OK so can I run without the brace completely while I save up for the summit kit, and where do I get one from?

Best I can do, if you look all the way towards the front you can see a chrome pipe that runs across the car, afaik its a standard jdm sti lower front brace,

Didn't think the lower braces came as standard on any factory newage but I mignt be wrong..
Bluebugeye, if you are worried fit an "H" Brace which are quite cheap, even from companies like Cusco.... I'll have a hunt

As far as I can find out it was fitted to improve the front crash test results and get a better safety rating.

The newage lower H-brace won't fit as the c-frame added the needed depth. I've done some scant research and I reckon the classic one will fit as it uses different mounting points.
I've run mine without the brace for a year without any issues

No reason why the classic one wouldn't work. I dont know the dimensions but I run the front wishbone summit brace from the newage on my classic and the Alk mounting points should be the same for the H-brace
I have a GT Spec classic H-brace here, so I'll get under the SPecD ASAP and offer it up to see
