Exhaust advice required
Good day all,
So I've recently heard a blowing noise coming from somewhere near the front of my exhaust. I'm a bit of a noob having only had the car a month so I'm not entirely sure how the exhaust system is structured, but I'm assuming I have two cat's, one in the downpipe the another in the centre section? It's a '95 V2 Sti Wagon.
I had it up on jacks and it was hard to actually locate the source of the blowing as I think it's got all original sti exhaust system (not stainless steel) and it had a weird metal surround over the exhaust piping I'm assuming protection. My guess is the joint between the downpipe and center section.
My thoughts are to replace both and get a high flow cat downpipe and decat center section and leave the original sti backbox on for the time being until I've got more cash. So basically I'd like some advice on what would be suitable products as I can't exactly break the bank right now. I was looking at Ninja Fast Flow Cat downpipe and Afterburner de-cat center section. Would these be wise choices, would there be similar quality stuff for cheaper? I'm not looking for optimal performance gains as I'm hoping to upgrade my car sometime next year for a newer classic, but would still like a bit more growl from my Wagon in the time being.
Appreciate any help

Yes if you contact Cobra Exhaust UK,they're selling full range of exhaust for Impreza and for slightly cheaper price.

Can't you get away with a decat on a 95 import if so would be even cheaper to source. Do make sure that's where it is blowing though as uppipe is a common one and you need to make sure before buying anything

Yeah the problem is that I'm not actually sure at the moment where the breach is, but it sounds like it's at the point the downpipe and center section join, I may of course be wrong. Worth taking it to a Kwik fit to get a free evaluation from them?
No idea about the decat, you mean decat both? Well I've got 11 months on my MOT remaining so I guess it's an option.
Thanks for the links jura, hadn't seen them yet.

Took a quick picture of the location of the offending hole. The sound is definitely from the cat area, not further forward. Am I right in assuming this will be a straight swap for a de-cat center section?
Edit: Actually on inspecting the high res picture there's a hole in the cat itself? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Just curious, as my car has no mods, it's running somewhere short of mid 200's. I'd need a 2.5" bore correct? I read something about 3" lowering torque?

Thanks for the quick reply Jura! I'll be getting a center and backbox, I'll leave the downpipe for now.
