Default Engine Forging - Options

Hi guys, I'm on the final stages of completing my car, an 03 sti, and am looking at alternatives for engine forging. I am looking at the option of building a CDB stroker and doing a transplant on of a short motor but what are the options for forging my current short block?????? I have decided to go for one of kev's SC46 turbo's. Whats yer thoughts? Car has all the sorrect supporting mods now, incl FMIC and Syvecs.

There's no need to go closed deck until you get to 500bhp+ and even then the semi closed decks or pinned open decks work. If you forged yours as is with decent gaskets it will stand up to the SC46 no problem.

Your engine will take without the problem SC46,without the going to forged...
But this depends on conditions on your engine etc.

CDB will be wise if you want go in future for twisted/rotated setup and run more boost than will take your SCBD or OBD.

Cost of building own CDB,depends on parts/labor and i would recommend buying engine parts from USA,where are cost lot less than here.

SCBD will take around 550bhp if you are going for forged internals.

Pistons: Cosworth,CP,Wiseco or Wossner,Mahle

Rods: Carillo,Pauter,K1,Arrow,Wossner,Eagle

Bearings: ACL race bearings:Big end and main bearing set

If you want stroke you will need also 79mm Nitrated Crankshaft, billet crankshaft is expensive

12mm ARP studs will be mine choice

If you re-torque the head bolts you could run 2+ bar of boost on a newage STI motor... just don't expect it to last forever.

LOL

P.S. A simple 2.1 stroker can start around £2500 talk to Alan J. @ engintuner. I was told 550+ would be pushing my luck on a Newage STI S-CDB

Dunx i don't think he will run with SC46 2.0+ bar boost.

Your existing block, stripped and chemically cleaned, including gallery plug removal. Bored and honed using stress plates. Assembly fully balanced.
New nitrided 79mm crank, Wiseco pistons and K1 H beam rods, ACL Race bearings. Block painted and the whole shrink wrapped, supplied clean and ready to install.
All work is carried out in our own machine shop.
£2650 inc vat.
We have run these units up to 520 bhp on open deck blocks with no problem.
The SC46 is an excellent choice, and proven on our stroker engines.

We turn engines out like this..
