Default Bought a bug - need it mapped

I already have a 330bhp MY00 classic and today we bought my missus an MY01 Bug eye with minimal mods.

It has a full decat system, K&N panel filter, forge dump valve (pants) and standard topmount. Everything else including fuel pump is standard. According to the boost gauge its only making about 8 psi, which seems low to me??

Emma wants to get an induction kit for it as you cant hear it spool then go for a map to improve power/drivability.

Thing is..........where in the midlands can we take it and can it be mapped open source or is it ECUTek only?

She's not looking for breakneck power. 260+ would be nice but its a DD and has to do the school run etc.

I know theres info on Andy Forrests site regarding mods but really we're looking for someone around Leicester/Notts/Midlands who can check the car over and give it a tweek.

Any advice/recommendations is welcome.

Cheers, Stu n Emma

Hi Stu

your car(i mean Bug) can be mapped by EcuTek and Open Source, just contact here Duncan @Race Dynamix or Graham@Engine Mapper, both are mobile and can map/tweak your car without the problem.

Thanks Jura, Dunc was just recommended to me by someone else so i'll send a PM to him.

Anything else we should consider before a map? Is a walbro pump hard to fit and would this be beneficial?

Is the boost gauge correct?? if i remember rightly my car was about 13 psi totally standard.
Sorry just noticed the decat thats probably why the boost is down.

I always carry 3 port solenoids with me when mapping but sometimes on bug wrxs they arent needed and a simple change of the restrictor pill will do the job.

Fuel pump is a 45 minute job

0.8 bar is 11 psi mate, not 8 psi.

As above fuel pump is easy to fit and for safety reasons i would replace,3-port i would replace too just for as i said too for safety reasons and for better holding boost...

Not sure, how much boost has been on UK bugs, but on JDM has been 0.8-1bar(On mine has been 15psi/1.0bar)

If you have all ready decatted exhaust,i would fit STi Up pipe or Harvey Up pipe...
