At the moment I am running with 18" p1 alloys but due to the mot I need a pair of new tyres. So my question is I have 2 17" alloys that will fit so could I fit these to the front without damage to my transmision whilst I send my 18s off for a refurb and new tyres.

No mate def not. ( Here is what Subaru say ) All 4 tires must be the same in terms of manufacturer, brand tread pattern construction degree of wear speed symbol load index and size, mixing tires of different types and degrees of wear can result in damage to the transmission.
