Oil leak on top of block... pics included???
Hey guys.

any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated
Ist pic shows location on engine (middle of pic, left of throttle cable)...

is that plug the oil temperature sender for aftermarket gauges (top of cylinder 3)
when i installed mine it leaked very slightly, only when engine was being driven (i.e. under pressure)
i took the plug back out and put a small winding of ptfe tape around the threads and that cured the problem on mine.

Looks like an oily PCV valve with the return to the inlet pipe blocked off.
You running atmospheric crankcase vents/catch cans?

yes i have 3 prosport guages fitted...
and yes i think it had a catch can fitted when the engine was built???
It looks like it could be leaking from that black pipe you see in pic 2 - what is this??? And how exactly do i go about fixing said problem fellas???
(sorry for the million and 1 questions!!)

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but am i needing to replace the hose? or pcv valve? or just fix it somehow????..... (ptfe tape as above???)
Im a Gym Instructor unfortuantly, there is a limit to my mechanical skills and knowledge!

I expect the valve is OK but the plastic Y piece and the attached hose/hoses become a "loose fit" - hence the oily mess.
Taking off, cleaning up and possibly a couple of tie wraps would probably do the job. You may have to change the bolt that has been used to plug the outlet for an oil tighter fit.

Thanks buddy
what about the hose (in pic 2, just under thr big red one which attatches to the turbo)) that joins to the valve itself -
if you look closely you can see that theres a wet patch on that, indicating maybe that its leaking from there too????

Removing the intercooler should be sufficient, removing the inlet manifold is way OTT.
All part of the same problem.
The PCV valve is screwed into the manifold at the other end of that pipe.
The piece you can see is a plastic Y piece that links to the pcv valve one way and used to connect via connection that is now plugged to the inlet pipe before the turbo.
It also connects to the crankcase directly below it.
Maybe this shows it a bit clearer
The pipe labelled "1" has been removed and its connection plugged.
Remove the intercooler, clean it all up and then make sure the hose/s are a tight fit.

I don't have a TMIC to worry about and there's not enough access, IMO.
Beside's, the oil want's cleaning off the top of the block, can't do that with the inlet in place.
