yeh... that's what i've read about, seems strange though? as I think every other car has an option to disable it?

also read that the passenger airbag is only active if it senses there's more than 80lbs on the seat? not sure how true this is.... think its a question for the dealer probably

she can always put the chair in the back seat, but would be nice to also have the option of having the baby next to her

Default airbag

hi mate the only other option you have got is unplug it.
disconnet battery ( take glovebox off then find the plug on the airbag and disconnect it (you will have the airbag fault light lit on the dash though)

I think your insurance company would have something to say about that

I'm curious now - why do you need to disable it

baby seat, when you put a baby car seat (not toddler) the airbag cant be on or in case of accident it would send the car seat flying

all cars that I know off you can switch off, even my C5 estate you can switch it off, there's a switch on the side of the dashboard where you put the ignition key and turn to switch the airbag off

here's a pic... as you can see, the airbag must be switched off or else.... you get the picture on what could happen if the airbag is deployed in this situation

The full system will also include the seatbelt pretentioners too, your best putting the baby seat in the back, plenty of room back there

I pulled the fuse on mine. Ignition off obviously. When I needed to use it again, plugged it back in and light went out.

As for putting the baby in the back, you are very limited by the length of the seatbelts. So you either have to have the baby seat tilted almost vertically to get it to fit, or if you have a base for the car seat, that helps.

Is it possible to disconnect seat sensor which turns passenger airbag on? My 2009 Forester recalled and parts not yet available to fix problem. They say not to have anyone ride in passenger seat until repair is done! Are they kidding?!
