Newbie Impreza WRX Bugeye help!
Hi guys
I have finally acquired my new WRX BUGEYE Impreza on a 52 plate and it is bog standard. Will be looking into the styling at a later date however I am keen to get the performance up. I have a pot of cash left up from the purchase and will be looking for basic mod's to get the power up.
Can anyone point me in the direction of where to start. I have had performance jap cars before but never an impreza.
All help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome mate!
I'd say start with the basics and finish with mapping to get it to full potential there are plenty of people on here who have had theirs upgraded stage by stage. Best of luck

Hi Martyn
For basic mods, i would recommend these parts :
3-port boost solenoid
Decatted exhaust(Cobra is OK and great for price or Japspeed if its budget tight)
Ported headers with Harvey up pipe(PM here Harvey)
255LPH Walbro Fuel Pump
Remap OS(Open Source) or EcuTek
With these mods you should have nice 270-280bhp
If you are looking for 330-350bhp,you will need these parts
VF30,VF34,VF35 turbo(usually these turbos are for sale used)
STi pink injectors(as above are usually for sale used)
And all above mentioned parts
with right mapper you should have nice 330-350bhp
Second thing which i would recommend is invest money to brakes like better pads with discs(Aztec Performance here have good choice of brake discs/pads for good money)

good lad, another bugeye, they are becoming a rare breed in good condition,ha ha!! I have a nice 2001 bugeye running about 270bhp at the moment with various modifications and more due in the next couple of months, cant wait. If you are interested I will let you know what I have done to mine, but agree with with Midlife, not many totally bog standard ones out there, normally exhaust, filter dumpvalve etc have been played with.
Cheers

Congrates and welcome. I've got a blob wrx but was in the same position as yourself when I first bought mine a few years back. I'd suggest, new back box (ninja 2 is my choice) straight through centre section, green panel filter and if you have any cash left maybe get the up pipe decatted. All that should give you a few extra horses and leave you in a nice position to get it remapped at a later date. Good luck with it!

To start with that 1k may just go on your insurance when you start modifying so check there first, then look at the brakes, they really are pathetic for a performance car after that its really just an exhaust/panel filter/remap and that alone will eat up 1k.
