Default Dump Valve Delete sound clip?

Am considering this on my 06 wrx as I have a VF48 with hks ssqv currently.

Just wondering if anyone has or knows of a sound clip for similar scooby. Searched YouTube but very little.

Cheers. Andy

Don't have a sound clip, sorry, but it sounds so much better than a chav valve!

If you're ever down south enough from Aylesbury (i.e. Hemel/Watford area) you can listen to mine

What turbo you running then jay? Sounds nice. Am running a VF48 at 1.35 bar so doubt it would sound as good as yours.

What drawbacks are there to running the delete? More lag, shorter turbo life? Will I need a map tweak?

Cheers fellas. Very helpful stuff.

Mine sounds a bit like this, but much louder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuNTnA5A2Fo

Drawbacks? None. Most turbos can take it, some can't...

Nice! Only running an uprated panel filter currently so guess it will be quieter anyhow.

Good luck with the map. Cheers for info.

Read somewhere the VF48 can. May have a play and make a blanking plate to trial. Cheers.

Stick with your favourite exhaust + sports cat and you're as quiet as you want to be. If people tell you that you'll make loads of power from a decat over a sports-cat they're lying. Last year I was running around 500bhp with a sports-cat and easily passing an MOT etc - the power drop was minimal.

Might sound like a stupid question but how exactly do you do this? just plug everything up? the hole in the intercooler and the 2 hoses?

If so whats best to use? I can use the bung I got with my crappy Bailey dv for one hose but that just leaves the smaller hose and the hole in the intercooler. What do people use to bung these up? I've had a couple of ideas but some tips would be appreciated :-)

Sorry for the hi-jack btw but i'm sure there are others that would like to know the same

If you running with a TMIC, just unplug the Vac pipe and plug the end of the pipe for a test. Rob

Lol. No worries. That's all I was going to do. Leave the recerc hose plug in, plug the small vac hose and make a plate for the intercooler. Sorted.

Already running a full cobra 2.5" exhaust with 200 cel mot friendly sports cat downpipe. Don't plan on full decat. Too much hastle. Made 334bhp and 381lb/ft with that. Happy with that level on wrx box and std clutch. Lol.

Ask the mapper what he thinks of delete. Will it effect the map? That's one of my problems. Was mapped with my vent to air hks, so blanking it will effectively over fuel a bit. Ecu may correct this, not sure.

Set your car up exactly how you (think you) want it, then get it mapped to suit. Who's your mapper BPR? All of the usual suspects will sort you out

Is that the thinner pipe on the right of the standard re-circ? Would this be safe to drive like that with everything else as is and just the thin hose blanked off?

And is it the hose I need to bung up or the hole that would be left in the dv? or both? Sorry for the newb questions but i'm still learning lol

Unplug the ruin hose from the dump valve and put something in the small rubber pipe to block it off. Basically this is the vacuum hose that controls the dump valve. If unplugged from the dump valve then the dump valve will not work. It will effectively stay shut under pressure like a blanking plate. Simple test as rob suggested.

Good luck.

Hey guys, how did you get on?

By no means do I advocate you doing this for anything more than a test without speaking to your mapper, also depending what Turbo you are running you may run the risk of damaging the compressor.

So to clarify, unplug the small vac pipe that is fed off the dumpvalve, plug the pipe with say a small threaded bolt, dont worry about plugging the DV nipple.

As said this will prevent the DV from operating thus causing back pressure through the turbo, and the shudder noise is the air escaping back through the turbo (the wrong way) as the turbo is charged, which is why I said you may run the risk of damaging the turbo.

Rob
