Unhappy New turbo up pipe......now car feels slower???

As above, I fitted a stainless steel up pipe to my V2 STI with all new gaskets and fixings, and now it's fitted, the boost does'nt seem to come in as hard as it used to, and the exhaust sounds quieter!

Is it just my imagination, or should I put the standard up pipe back on?.

There are no fault codes with the car, it's got a titanium cat back exhaust with a Apexi induction kit, Wallbro 255, bigger top mount intercooler and a Polar performance ecu. I was thinking of resetting the ecu, but did'nt think it would make any difference?

Any thoughts?

Have a check to make sure that both ends of the pipe is fitted correctly, ie no gap equal no leak. Worth have a good look.

If it's a wider bore then the gases might travel a little slower affecting spool up.......

you will find that the diameter of the new uppipe is bigger than the standard one hence the lose of spool up, speak to Harvey about one of the special uppipe's that he supplies to match the headers and turbo fitted currently to you're car.

Another vote for Harvey, who has done the work for the rest of us on matching up-pipes to turbos.

What turbo?
Do you have a boost guage fitted?
What make of uppipe?
Getting the right uppipe and matched to your turbo and the rest of your spec is critical to getting the best performance from what you have. Obviously the uppipe best for a TD04 cannot be the same as the uppipe that is best for a GT30 and so on.
