10w40 shell helix semi synthetic, but there are other options in the handbook...

The correct answer is.....

Depends! Shell is what you'll get from Subaru however there are oils out there with different qualities all depends on level of tune, depth of wallet and type of driving.

Personally I use Fuchs Titan Pro 10w50 but mines a tracked fully forged 2.5.

gulf competition is good value. it's an ester-based synthetic.
