Default Decat advise pls.

Hi all,
I've tried searching, but can't find a definitive answer, so...
For a 96 JDM WRX ( pre-facelift, V2 ? ) got a HKS super drager cat back exhaust with a HKS mushroom filter and Bailey dumpvalve, Walbro pump, this is how i bought it.
What i want to know is, can i fully decat it SAFELY as i know i the ECU isn't remapable?
I've been told this makes quite a difference to response/performance, is this TRUE?
Cheers

In a word yes ,decat will make the turbo more responsive allowing quicker spool up, as the exhaust gases have a less restrictive path to the atmosphere. Personally i would remove the dumpvalve after owning 5 various bov's (incl baileys) in the last 2 years, and nothing to be gained bar a noise ,but if your happy with it then ignore the last sentence.

Thanks for reply, so will the ECU sort out the fuelling itself ? Paranoid about it running too lean!

full decat on mine reset ecu then have afrs checked on rolling road , no problem , the only prob you may have is overboosting due to it being more freeflowing
