Thermostat is fairly easy to replace. Follow the bottom rad pipe back to the block to find the housing.

Couple of 10mm - from memory - bolts hold the housing in place.

Could be anything when it comes to the coolant system!

Im having problems with airlocks, hoses breaking down etc...

Have decided im gonna replace tha whole lot.

As for you if you think its the stat just remember you need to drain the system to get it out and make sure you fill the system properly to avoid any air locks! (which i failed to do)

If its the stat, the bottom hose will be very hot,not as hot as the top one, as the water has flowed thru the rad, thats if you have stopped after driving the car to check,if left at idel, might be as hot as the top hose, but if the stat is stuck shut, the bottom hose will still be bloody hot,so check that as a sign of stat stuck shut

If the bottom hose is nice and cool, stat is working
