Tracking Question
Ok guys, had new tyres on the scoob and asked to get the tracking sorted at the same time, as standard..
Was at ATS and up on the ramps it went, laser tracking equip went on and I was shown the tracking was out so agreed to get it sorted, save scuffing out nu rubber..
The guys then jacked the car up whilst up on the ramps, so the two front wheels were in the air, having, already put a steering clamp on, meaning the steering was locked..
Then the guy came back to get me and showed me how he could move the wheels to align the tracking and that apparently this shouldn't happen as the lock on the steering means that the wheels shouldn't move at all and therefore there is a bit of play in the steering..
He did however, say that they don't see a lot of impreza or the alike and therefore don't know whether this is the norm, but didn't want to go ahead and do the tracking anyway to save me money, if there is a bigger problem, and more to the fact, when I asked how he would do it anyway, he said he couldn't as would need a different machine whereby the weight of the car is on the wheels so that they can't be moved easily or something.
Anyways, can anyone clear this up for me, anyone else had this issue with tracking, or have I got a problem, if so any suggestions, the steering rack maybe? Or is this the norm on Impreza's and if so where can I go to get my tracking sorted.
Cars a MY99 Impreza Sport.
Many Thanks in advance,
I hope the replies won't mean big bucks!
Cheers,
Jase
