Default Uneven Tyre Wear

Hi there,

I have a 2005 Impreza STI.

Until recently it had the standard 17" wheels and also had added a Camber Adj Bolt Kit 14mm amongst other things by the previous owner.

I have changed the wheels & tyres to 18" with 245/40/18 tyres and have had problems with tyre wear.

When the car had the standard 17" wheels all tyres wore evenly and never gave me any problems. Since changing to the 18" wheels the outer edge on the front tyres (particular one of them) have worn excessively quickly, after about 500 miles a 5mm tyre is bald on the outer edge.

I was thinking of getting a 4 wheel laser alignment done but do I just need to change the Camber Kit or is this unlikely to cause this much wear.

Any help or advice would be greatly received. Thanks Robert

If the tyre has worn on both outer edges, then it's due to under inflation. Check that you have the right psi for this rim size and tyre combo.
