As above really is there anyway to visually tell which type of lifter is in the engine?
Reason being I have a semiclosed deck engine I bought second hand that I¬m trying to find out whats what, I`m sure that its an STI engine (early one), as it is really rattly, sounds like my mates old Ford Escort which had solid lifters. I think mine need adjustment as they are noisy, and not just piston slap at cold.
The hotter and more the engine gets ragged the quieter it gets lol.
