Hi all,

I have a 1997 Subaru Impreza sport AWD. I bought it about 3 months ago and it ran lovely, not a problem with it at all but i went to start my car yesterday afternoon, pulled out of my road and had no throttle response at all but then the car surged forward. About 300 yards down the road the car cut out on me completely. I tried starting it again and it ran for about 2 secs and cut out again. I left it for about 10 mins started and i managed to get about 8 miles down the road before it did it again.
I've put a new air filter on it about 2 weeks ago but had no problems in those 2 weeks.
Could it be that causing the problem or could it be the air flow sensor?

just try and unplug the maf and see what happens mate

 

Definitely sounds like MAF.

 

Ok Thanks - So if it is the MAF and i dissconnect it can I run it with it disconnected untill i get a new one?

you should be able to run you may find its a bit off a pig but ye it will still drive if you know anyone who has a scoob just do a quick swapsy and go for a run its a quick easy job to change over saves buying needles things
