Hi folks.

Now and again I get a smell of gearbox oil in the car. I have to keep an eye on the level as it seems to use it

What would cause the gearbox to lose oil?

btw there isn't any oil stains on the drive under the car

u sure its gearbox oil and not normal oil, like a breather pipe loose and fumes into the cabin area?

Its defo gearbox oil. It smells the same as when I top it up each time

Could be the seal where the prop shaft goes into the end of the box, get underneath and have a look for drips it's prob dripping on the exhaust hence the smell. It's an easy repair if that's the prob I did mine when I had the box out but you should be able to change it with the box in situ.

I will have to have a look when I can get the car up high enough to get under
Any idea as to how much these seals are?

Also does anyone know of any other possible problem that this could be causing this?
