Engine differences between an impreza and forester
Hi guys, my 98 UK turbo motor in my beach buggy is shot and I've been looking at a cheap forester as a donor vehicle. But looking at the power figures the forester is well down on the impreza engine I was running.
Can anyone tell me what makes the impreza so much more powerful? Is it turbo? Injectors? ECU? Or a combination of all the above?
Next if it is just the bolt on bits that make it different could I use the bare engine with heads and bolt my inlet manifold onto it. The forester is a v reg by the way.
Thanks in advance, Ian.

Very basically the UK 2.0L Forester runs softer cams and a smaller tubo as standard. A JDM Forester has basically the same engine/tubo as a WRX.
Fitting a TD04 to a UK 2.0L Forester + remap can get it up to about 260BHP

P.S does anyone know if my 98 inlet manifold with the coil pack in the middle will fit onto the forester block?
Failing that will there be much to altering the wiring I have together it to run?
Thanks Ian.

Hi guys I'm going to pick up my forester on Friday for a fella, in London .
I would really like to hike the power up on it ASAP .
Where would I start and what parts are a direct fit .
Oh by the way I'm getting a S turbo .
Thanks in advance
Chris

Have a look at http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulle...-2-0-xt-24249/
The 2.0 XT has roughly the same engine as the Turbo S
