Oil cooler for my STi V5?

My car is still being looked at 
and it has been suggested that I consider an oil cooler as apparently V5's tend to blow up after long period's of hard driving 
Has anyone had one fitted?
Are they recommended/ worth it?
What benefit will I get - reliability?
