Unhappy CEL

Hi all

Was driving my car today and the check engine light has come on. Had it come on over christmas and took it to a garage and it was to do with my de-cated exhaust. Was thinking of trying to sort it myself and was wondering what the best fault code reader was and what people have got/use?

Are these any good on flea-bay?

Have you had the car mapped? As I understand this can be sorted in the mapping. Hope so as next year looking at getting my ECU re-mapped as the GEMS ECU is not road side check friendly.

I've had it remapped by Alan Jeffery back in the autumn.

Usually the mapper sort's the CEL when he maps it as the newage's are prone to sticking the CEL on when you fit a decat.

There is a programe to do it which companies charge £150 to permantly delete it.

But you have mapped for decatted exhaust?
If not you will need again tweak to your existing map.

CEL can be as usual(on Bugeye) Camshaft position sensor when you are hit rev limiter few times, but this error will disappear after few starts.

Or can be O2 sensor, which cost on eBay around £88-£120 or from your main dealer around £300 excluding VAT.

But for definitely answer you will need OBD reader or if you can borrow OBD reader..
