Default Exhaust Fitting Problem

I've got an H&S 2nd cat delete pipe to fit. I jacked the car up and the bolts at the centre section seem fine. However at the downpipe join it looks like a stud is used with two nuts, ie two studs and four nuts. On one side of the flange however there is just what appears to be the stud and no nuts!

What's the best way to get this off and get the new pipe fitted? Do you remove the nuts and tap the stud through? It's an 02 STi.

Here are some pics

1st I wouls soak t in a good penetrating lubricant and leave it then try locking 2 nuts together on the same side then working it loose and unscrew it.

They are studs, just a bit to long so they protrude like they are. Give it a good spray of WD40 or similar then be gentle but firm don't try to shock the nuts loose as you could round the nuts or snap the studs. Don't worry if the studs unscrew instead of the nut, just put them back in as though a bolt.

had a nightmare doing mine. Nuts were to rusty to move. took hours of wd40 and swearing lol.....managed to get one undone ok, the other thought i eventually got it undo a bit with some molegrips, which gave me enough room to get a small hacksaw in there and cut the stud.

Thanks guys. Gonna leave this one alone for now. I'll let the garage tackle it when they're doing the downpipe.
