Subaru GB270 Hp upgrade
Hi I currently have a Subaru Impreza GB270 and I am looking to take it to the 300Hp mark. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to do this please and what modifications would I need?? Thanks

decatted exhaust and air induction system would be a start, any more bhp you would need a turbo upgrade . obviously you would need to have a remap to.
several gb270 have been given a power upgrade but most go for tmic from a jap spec sti, decatted exhaust system, bigger turbo this gives about 340 hp costs around £2500 with a remap and all the parts

A better panel air filter plus a remap should see around 285bhp plus a nice lump of torque, you might also want to replace the centre exhaust section to improve the burble plus exhaust gas flow.

Hi there first of all, u have a gb270 limited edition so I would not mot it my self but if u do try this. As cannon fodder said panel filter I have tried 3 types and the cosworth filter was the best. Look in group buy for it.
Then you said the car is juddering so try nkg pfr7b spark plugs eBay 35-45 new, check the gaps before putting in.
I think u have two cats, keep your 200 cell down pipe but change your centre section (H&S)
Get a good mapper should make 310 or more as your car has an uprated fuel pump. And last thing make sure u run Tesco 99 or v- power it makes a big differents. Hope this helps
P.s the judder might be found on the error codes by the mapper

A VF35 on the GB270 is mental on the road. Spools almost as early as the td04 with full boost available way before 3000 rpm and if you change the tmic for the sti tmic, it will give 330 ish bhp and a massive torque figure close to 400 lb/ft.
VF43 or VF48 are also very good upgrades for slightly more top end power than the vf35.
But on the std car as is at the moment, there is more than can be got out of the map but it wont hit 300. Probs 280 max but more torque so will perform better in the real world.
It has all it needs for good performance apart from the turbo and tmic (although have had 350bhp on the hawk wrx tmic). Lots of turbo choices second hand that would be good.

But at just £750+ vat the SC36 Billet isn't exactly expensive, would be new and would come with a 12 month warranty.
It will outspool any of the VF series turbos by some margin and will go on to produce more power if pushed too.
I believe the OP asked for the easiest way, not just the cheapest way

Having done a fair few the newer vf turbos as fitted to hawk sti vf43 or vf48 as
are much more suited to 2.5.
The earlier vf's like vf30, vf34, vf35 are a good upgrade but you are looking at around 330bhp and 350lb as against 350+ bhp and upto 400lb.
The only exhaust change iirc correct on the ppp on hawk wrx is to remove the small cat at bottom of downpipe. I think the downpipe is standard cat not sports like earlier ppp.
The gb270 is a fairly good map, have seen certain people reusing it and claimimg its a custom map.
I would buy an sti tmic, turbo off hawk sti and decat it and remap.
Or as martyn suggests the sc36 works v well.

As simon says it needs ILF7H plugs. Disgraceful padding off the gb270 map as a custom one too.

Some people here are recommending that you fit a second hand turbo off one of the types above, as they often come up for sale when people upgrade their exisiting units.
My recommendation is that your buy yourself a Scoobyclinic SC36 Billet turbo as this has the benefits I described earlier and have the car remapped.
We sell the turbo or you can buy it directly from Scoobyclinic, either way the price is the same.

SC36 is a Scoobyclinic Billet turbo
TD04 is a standard UK turbo found on the WRX and Turbo 2000
VF34 roller bearing turbo , found in some imported STIs
VF35 UK STI turbo fom Bug / Blob
VF43/ 48 Turbo from Hawk / Hatch STI
PPP Prodrive Performance Pack generic remap / exhaust from Subaru, ups WRX to a claimed 265 STI to a claimed 305. (Often far less)
GB270 Special edition Hawk available as saloon in WR Blue or grey Wagon PPP car with 270bhp
Can't see any other abbs.
