Confused on what Fuel RON!
Hi all.
I am a fairly newbie with an 07 WRX Wagon. I have been dutifully filling up with Shell V-Power after reading advice on this forum. I noticed today a sticker on the inside of my fuel flap saying...'95 Ron ONLY', with 'ONLY' in big letters! What should I be using?? Surely the car ECU/timing etc will be set up for 95 RON? Confused!!!

It wont do it any harm mate imho it will make the car run better.
I think the 95 Ron ONLY bit means dont put diesel in it lol.
Uk models will be spec'd with lower ron fuel as high octane is not as available as it is in Japan.
Ive always used Tesco's 99

All cars that are regiester in the UK must be able to run on standard UK Fuels. RON95 being the most commonly available. Older cars like my01 has a sticker in the flap to run on "super unleaded only"
Tescos momentum is what im running and finding it superb.

The clue is when it says 'gasoline' instead of petrol on the label. Seems what sticker your car has depedns on what day the car was built and how many stickers they had left over.
Always go by RON value. If the sticker doesn't say it, the owner's manual will (back cover on most cars). If it says 95Ron, thats a minimum. Higher octane fuel won't do any harm (except to your wallet). The exception of course is the engine has been modified and is running higher than stock boost pressures.
Obviously post MY96 Japanese imports (JDM) need to run 97Ron or higher for 260ps cars. and 99Ron for 280ps cars. And they really should be mapped for UK fuel anyway.

Yes, they dont like 95 ron fuel, it has an adverse effect of blowing engines up on JDM cars
A plus side is that you can get your car mapped for 95 ron fuel, but which model/year is it you have? the latest versions (99 onwards) were mapped for 100 ron fuel in Japan.
