Default what head gaskets ???

after advice mainly and part numbers..

i have a MY96 version 2 STI so has the closed deck engine..
so what gaskets do i need ??

are the open and closed deck gaskets the same ?? i though they'd be different ??

now i believe the engine has already been rebuilt by a crappy clinic somewhere, so can't guarantee if the heads have been skimmed or not..

do i buy the same size gaskets as to whats on, do i go for genuine subaru, or shall i buy some cosworth ones ??

anyone know a cheap supplier ?? metal gaskets,
i keep looking on ebay and find loads of genuine and cosworth, but need to know if they'll fit and what size to go for ??

i mean genuine subaru gaskets at less than £100 is cheap, if they are right ??

anyone else had problems locating parts and part numbers ??

i'm in Nottingham and want to spend as little as possible as we all do
so my list is..
head gaskets,
head bolts,
exhaust gaskets,
thermostat,
oil filter,

i have rocker gaskets, and a new clutch (do WRX fit STI ?? MY95 to MY96)

any help appreciated lads...it's in the shop now so waiting the call for parts any day...

Measure the head height which is 127.50mm from the factory - any less and they have been skimmed in the past. Or you can volume the combustion chambers and see if they differ from the standard volume.

If the heads are standard then go for the OEM Subaru MLS Head Gaskets 11044AA463 - they are the STi Version 3~4 thick steel head gaskets and a good upgrade for the Carbon Composite gaskets.

Are you skimming the heads and maybe block, my mate did his HG last month and never bothered to get his skimmed or checked. He is now removing the engine for a 2nd time

Are you fitting a new timing belt aswell mate? Its not recommended to put the old one back on
