Default Reliability query

I've got a 98 V4 Sti import, what power can the drivetrain and turbo take safely? I was hoping around the 350 mark

Much appreciated if anybody can shed some light

You are right with 350 for turbo out put and your injectors will also be fine at that level. Anything over 350 ish and you are pushing the gearbox and clutch.

The gearbox / clutch can easily take more than 350 on a jdm sti.

But if the engine is original then its probably the weakest link

The engine has just had a forged re build, cdb, phase 2 crank, its basically a brand new engine.....I just need to run it in and in the process find an apexi power fc ecu so that after its run in it can be mapped up.......does any 1 kno we're I could source 1 new or second hand from??

question is, for how long? depends on how the op drives, how many miles already on box/clutch and how much abuse the box has already had. mine lasted 2 weeks after having an 18g fitted, having said that it was the slightly weaker uk unit.

No they cant, they will probably give up before the engine tbh.

OP, if you want reliability then keep to standard, run the car on the highest octane fuel and octane booster, have some form of monitor (KS3) for det, fit gauges, Lambda link etc.
Turbo is a vf24, good for around 320-330bhp, gearbox is a TY752, not the strongest one out there, the more torque you put through it, the more it will groan (and the clutch), dont expect it to run for too long without an after market ecu as your standard one cannot be mapped and if your going to modify then you need the car mapping, I would also look at the brakes, they suck for what the car is.
