Real quicky! Do I bother to swap my sports cat for decat?
V1 STi - MajorSarcasm chip, panel filter, Japspeed Sports Cat...
I put the sports cat on as I thought I needed to for MOT, turns out I don't and have been tested on a non-cat test 3 times now.
What benefit will I see going fully decat? What issues might I face?
In terms of bhp, is it worth? Or am I looking at max 5bhp or something? i.e nothing I would notice where it counts, i.e. on the road
I was running 0.9bar previously with just the panel filter and made 260bhp dead on at Surrey RR. Any educated estimates what I should be running at 1.15bar with the sports cat and chip as I currently am?? I am guessing 275-280bhp...

I think the general formula must equal the below though for me to bother!
Funds from sports cat - cost of decat + hassle of changing it = atleast 5-10bhp + shorter spool time ?
But I Don't think this is the case so I think I cannot be bothered!

i have major sarc chip and decat and tbh the gains over a z4ecu (stock) and my fully catted oe downpipe were not that big, i only went from 260.9 bhp to 268bhp (same rollers).
besides a sports cat is not far off a full decat so i would not go to the trouble. better to save for something else liek a brake upgrade or custom map.
by the way do you have a boost gauge fitted? what boost do you make in 4th with the chip fitted? i only make 14.5 psi with the major sarc chip.

well i went from a full de-cat to a 100 cell ninja sport's cat....save all the m.o.t hassle...had map tweaked at scooby clinic...with de-cat car ran 339 bhp.with race cat on it ran 333bhp.so at that power level gains are mimimal at best with a de-cat, i can't tell the difference at all.

Pre 1995 import not on Vosa database so not bothered for myself but the above seems to suggest don't bother with decat.... that is unless the MajorSarcasm map would suit it better but there in lies the rub with a generic map I suppose.... not setup specifically either way. 6bhp difference with a remap is not really worth the hassle.
