Default Oil Filter confussion

Hey guy went to halfords today to get oil and a filter, they tell me that they do not stock the filter for my 1997 V4 sti, im sure i have got one from here before??? does any one have a part number or another model that will be the same. Im doing the oil change tomorrow and gonna be stuck without one!

All 4 cylinder Impreza uses the same oil filter and its the same as 4 cylinder legacy, forester etc

I got a forester filter last time and it was a lot bigger

Halfords dont know they sell car parts sometimes they never know anything. What ive found is just tell them its a uk car. if it doesnt show on their computer (import) they dont have a clue . They wont have a performance filter tho

The current filter is a tiny thing. The larger filter was used up until around '03/'04 then (I assume to simply save costs?) they went to the small version. Many aftermarket filters are of the larger capacity. I use UFI filters from Opie Oils which are larger than the miniscule Subaru offering and work fine.

PS Don't forget to pre-fill the filter before fitting!
