Which turbo would be best for my application?
Ok, running a version 1 sti wagon, with at the moment a td05 turbo, 380 injectors soon to be 440s, full decat exhaust, rcm k+n induction kit with alloy trumpet, hybrid front mount intercooler and walbro pump with simtek ecu.
Looking at upgrading the turbo but want something that spools quick and will do 340 bhp top end, but primarily want the quick spool.
What would you guys suggest turbo wise for the above car with the current mods, taking into accont 440s will be going in at same time.
Thanks in advance

I should have added that my current td05 has started to crack around the clamp area, so thought it might be an idea to change it and upgrade at same time, would you suggest going to a td05 but 18 g rather than replace with what i have currently?? The thing that worries me with that is the 18 will do the power no trouble but im worried about lag.

"We recommend that you choose the smallest turbo capable meeting your power requirements. This will ensure maximum response and support the widest useable power band."
Quote from andy forrest site.So you wanna go TD05-16G (andy forrest,SC36,...) witch is capable of 340,SC36 even more but the again you will run out of injectors.

The block is nothing if the internals are chocolate (which they are on those), nothing like a nice cdb with a hole in the side to put a smile on your face
Go for another TD05 16G, its good enough and there are plenty around, also go for 550 cc injectors, 440's may be ok but you would need an fpr for sure to get 340bhp.

cool, cheers for that, defo dont want holes in blocks etc lol i didnt realise the internals were that bad!!!
will stick with current turbo till it lets go or is beyond working properly, then upgrade to a new 16g until i can afford a 2.1 stroker kit, im kind of getting used to the fact that the engine isnt gonna last forever with the abuse it gets, so a 2.1 was always on the cards when funds allow, gonna stick with the 440s for the time being as well i think, i do have an aftermarket fuel pressure reg to go on as well so should be ok, just looking for a decent level of power and response until the 2.1 kit is sanctioned!!! not to fussed about it being 340bhp just would be nice somewhere around that figure.
thanks for the advice again.

I have vf34 and i love it, on my wrx. I have 320 bhp but the power kicks in so quickly. You can push up to 350bhp with one of these top end but the real benifit is speed of boost. I highly recommend them.

I'm running 340bhp dyno proven on a vf34 and I'm still on 440 injectors... That's with a standard uk turbo tmic aswell.
Am having a remap after fitting a set of 550s and hybrid fmic in a months time so should be more then :-p
I know everybody rants and raves about the vr34 but it definitely one of the best turbo upgrades for a classic running a standard engine.
