Power limits
Hello all,
I recently bought my first Impreza and I'm trying to find out as much as I can about it, mainly the engine. I've tried using the search function but didn't get what I was after, although i'm sure this will have been covered before.
I'd appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right direction to find out as many details as possible. However, I'll start with an easy one
It's a 53 plate STi Type UK with 6speed box with no DCCD
What is the maximum power these engines and gearboxes are normally good for?
Cheers
Kev

Its a bit hit n miss, when you get to the 400+ zone (normally 450bhp) you can start getting issues, some have run over 500+bhp quite happily and some have decided to implode (or explode a piston through the block).
400-420bhp is a nice safe figure to aim for if you want to go that way, though it will cost you more due to bigger injectors, fuel pump, brake upgrade (min disc and pads), maybe a fmic though you can run the tmic, turbo (most of the good new ones are in excess of 1k), re map, exhaust, caik, increase in insurance etc.
