Default CV Joint?

I've got a 52 plate STI and when i reverse slowly with the steering wheel in the straight ahead position there is a slow regular knock, it occasionally does it going forwards when turning right but with a faster knock? Was thinking a CV joint, anyone any ideas?
If it is how do i check which one?

Having done a bit of searching on the forum i also get the rear end drop when coming to a stand still could this be the rear shocks knocking? Are the front shocks prone for knocking as well?

Turn the steering to full lock and drive. If it knocks then its more than likely the cv joint or the rubber boot that seals it.
