Default Water Leak

My mates UK Subaru Impreza Turbo is having major problems with losing water. It is the limited edition one that came in black, bronze alloys and red writing on the back. Cant remember what its called.

Anyway he is losing a couple of litres of water a day. When the car is on idle or sitting over night there are no signs of water loss under the car so it must be losing it when driving. He has had the Radiator and hoses checked but they are fine. Any ideas? could this be the headgasket on its way out? It is totally standard.

Any help is appreciated. thanks!

Is it a Cataluyna

Is there any signs of water in the oil or overheating issues?

have a look were the water pipe goes in the top of the motor ,mine was leaking there and evaporating when the engine was hot and i could only see it when it had been stood and cold
or a pin hole in the hoses , ive had that before when it was hot a fine jet coming out and missing everything and going were i couldnt see it

doubt it would be these because of the amount its losing , but worth a look

Thats the one cheers! Is there any difference between these and other impreza turbo's?

Defo no water in the oil or around oil cap. He done an oil and filter change and it was all fine.
Yes if he doesnt top water up with a few litres after a few days it will start to overheat.
One main problem is the heater blowers. It blows cold air alot when it should be hot air???

Perfect thank you, I will tell my mate to check all of these. I just told him to change the radiator and get a Silcone hose kit and see if the problem is fixed after that!

Sniff test will look for combustion products in the water, ie blown head gaskets, it may not lose water in idle, you could leave it standing and reving at about 3000 rpm to see if you can see any leaks, if not it may be losing under boost.
