Unhappy NOISY ENGINE

I bought a 2001 2.0 bugeye impreza gx in february,now when ever I hit 60mph the engine sounds like a rumbling plane,really noisy and then the steering wheel starts to shake along with the noise,any ideas what this can be ? thanks

In regards to the wheel shaking, could be that your trackings out or a bush has perished or something along those lines, can't help in regards to the engine.

Has the car thrown up any error codes?

its not been in to garage to see about error codes yet ,just dont want a costly bill for a car Ive just bought .

hi - i take it there is no noise when vehicle is stopped ? if no noise then good as it will be some type of rotational wear - as before maybe wheel bearing as this will make a whine that will only get worse - with the vibration in thinking either outer of inner cv joint as these have a fairly large mass spinning - either way dont drive till seen to and dont panic neither are too expensive to sort out
