Default Not starting...

Ok short story Fitted new decat pipe everythin fine couple of days later i go to start it and no joy. Couldn't smell petrol and couldn't hear the buzzing of the fuel pump when i turn ignition on.

So..i took out the fuel pump and linked it to a battery an it worked fine. Then i checked the fuses (didn't know which one so checked them all) and there all ok.

This leads me to think it is my immobiliser? Theres a flashpoint one fitted. Is there any way to check this??

If anyone who has professional knowledge could tell me what they think coz im just clutchin at straws here..

Shes a classic wrx import.

Thanks in advance

Yeah i had same problem a few years back immobiliser is a c*nt sometimes, ended up running a live from a switch as no one would look at it. Disconnected a few months later and it worked again ok??? Strange and not my first choice of solving the problem but it worked ok.

Would a diagnostic check show up relay and immobiliser problems?

Iv looked under the dash on driver side were i think the diagnostic plug is, and can only see a a yellow plug that i think could be it??

Yeah i got the same response mate , no garage would look at it. thats why i ended up doing that.
Easy enough job to get you going in the mean time. Run a 12v wire from a live in the car to a switch and then to the fuel pumps live feed. Preferably protect it with a fuse. No problem to do and it gets you running no problem in the mean time. I know a guy who runs his car like that and has for 2 years
At least it would tell you if everything else was ok.

Think its the one with the green connecter on bit of tw*t if i remember right

theres a brown one just beside it aswell. Thinks its drivers side above fuses (kind of behind steering column), i remember lying on my back in the drivers footwell very awkward to get.

If i link the fuel pump to a live and switch how will it know to increase fuel flow on acceleration? Does it not need instruction from the ecu via the relay to know to do this? I could be very wrong here but i just don't see how the pump would know to increase flow??

No mate, The fuel pump keeps a constant pressure and has a return back to the tank. The engine only takes what it needs from the loop. (Basically it doesnt increase pump flow when you accelerate it simply takes as much as it needs from the lines which are already pressurised).

Ok so correct me if im wrong:

1.Run a Positive and negative wire from battery.
2.Connect positive to switch.
3.Connect negative to fuel pump.
4.Connect positive from switch to fuel pump.

Put the fuel pump back in on a temporary power feed and the car started and ticked over so def fuel relay problem. Gonna attempt to wire it up to the ignition so the pump turns on and off as it should...its like fightin blind folded lol haven't a clue wat im at to be honest but makin progress so thats the main thing i suppose..so good to hear the big lady growl again

Yes pretty much, you can take the live from anything thats live (ie cigarette lighter etc).
The fuel pump should already have a negative supply but no harm in adding another.
It was only 1 live i ran through a switch and to the pump. You could wire it to a cigarette lighter socket and plug in when needed or a live that activates when the ignition is started (ie stereo, lights etc).
