Default Speedo stalls above 7500 rpm

Whenever I rev my STI V5 Type R above 7500 rpm the speedometer stalls and drops to 0. As soon as the revs drop below 7500 rpm the speedo goes back to normal.

I have Simtek and never had this problem with Ecutek but then again it has been fine with Simtek too. I had this problem a few times last year but the problem went away but now it seems that it has returned.

Is it the speedo sensor or could it be something in the Simtek map?

A clip of the phenomenon

Any ideas? Tried setting the revlimit to 4000 rpm but the speedo was normal so it's only something that happens on high revs.

I think you have electrical gremlins. I'd pull the clocks out and check wiring.

Funny but annoying

Yes I've been mailing with Steve but haven't got any further other than trying to lower the rev limit which didn't help.

Couldn't it be the speedo sensor on the gearbox?
