Turbo Upgrade
I have owned my first impreza STI for a bout 2 weeks now, its a 2003 and just covered 70,000 miles. It is Currently running around 320 Brake and this is with the Prodrive kit fitted.
I am looking for some more power and just after some advice which way to go in regards to purchasing a bigger turbo as there are so many...

If you go bigger turbo (and as jura said your turbo is good for 350bhp), your going to have to add supporting mods.
The PPP kit on your car will give the car 301bhp (305ps), a remap, uprated discs and pads will ensure smooth driving
If you want to go for a bigger turbo then your going to need injectors, turbo, 3 port boost solenoid, those brakes for definate, panel filter, some gauges as you will need to keep an eye on oil temp/pressure and boost, maybe a ks3 knock sensor, definately a remap.
Brake discs and pads, say 400ish, injectors? 650cc? another 400 say, gauges and pod will set you back 3-400, ks3 is 270, panel filter is 30 quid, 3 port boost solenoid is about 65-60 quid, turbo... depends what you go for, anything from 500-1000 quid, remap on ecutek is about 650 quid.
So 2.5-3k total cost excluding fitting, hike in insurance for mods etc.

i am looking at a bit of a power boost up to about 400 too. I have done a bit of research and chatted to a few people, so if I tell you my plans, it may help you a bit!
I have a 2004 STI WR1.
mine is standard, so has:
uprated fuel pump
sports cat first, decat second, prodrive exhaust
3 port boost solenoid
Also have K&N panel filter.
standard bhp is 315.
what I am looking at is:
SC40 turbo
650cc injectors or fuel pressure regulator
remap
for 400bhp, I have been told that the STI pink injectors can cope just about, but by adding a decent fuel pressure regulator, you can take the strain off them quite considerably to make it a lot safer.
Also, possibly considering a 3" exhaust, as I have the 2.5" prodrive one at the mo, and I am not sure how it would fair.
400bhp is a good number to aim for, as the top mount intercooler, standard airbox, and internals are rated to around 420bhp.
hope this helps you out!

are the fuel pumps not uprated as its an STI anyhow?
I have an decat pipe and a ninja 2 exhaust on mine atm, also have a k/n cold air intake instead of the standard air box.. so im just looking at turbo, injectors and a remap for about 400bhp?

i THINK the PPP includes the uprated fuel pump, but don't quote me on it!! as i said about the injectors - they may not be needed if you get a decent fuel pressure regulator, but i have been on the look out on here for new injectors, and you can get decent second hand uprated ones a bit cheaper than new ones. depends how much you want to spend! but yeah, turbo, injectors/FPR, and remap should get you around 400bhp
